Last night, March 31st
2012 the Ubizane team set out on a mission to support Earth Hour; for global
awareness – in order to send a powerful message for action on climate change.
We were honored that the
Interstat team, who are here on a two-day conference, were willing to get
involved and it definitely made the experience one to remember. As 8:30pm
arrived we switched off all the lights, lit our candle display of the word
‘Earth’, and placed lanterns and beautifully set candles in paper bags all
around our Restaurant area to ensure our guest’s party could continue.
For a period of an hour the
Interstat team enjoyed drinks and flowing conversation whilst surrounded by
candlelight in a romantic bush atmosphere. Later on when the lights came back
on, the guests requested to switch them off again and revert to candlelight –
not only showing the success of the cause but the benefit to everyone involved.
We were really proud of the
effort put in by everyone to make this global awareness campaign happen.
Last year more than 5200 cities
and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour,
which sent off an astonishing message for action on climate change. Some
members showed their support by going beyond the Hour to commit to a lasting
action to save the planet.
